Organizing products and industries on a B2B website

Build relationships around buyer questions. Product, industry, solution and case pages should each have a distinct job.

Experienced buyers may start with a model number. New prospects may only know their application problem. A useful B2B structure supports both without requiring visitors to understand the company's internal divisions.

Give each entry point a purpose

Products explain the offer and specifications. Industries explain application conditions. Solutions describe how capabilities work together. Cases document verified work and its scope. Smaller businesses can express these relationships with fewer sections.

Assign responsibility to each page type

  • Product: uses, conditions, specifications, document versions and contact.
  • Industry: tasks, constraints and relevant products.
  • Solution: context, configuration, boundaries and collaboration.
  • Case: confirmed background, responsibility and publishable results.

When a product serves several industries, keep a dependable source for its specifications. Industry pages should add relevant context and link to that source rather than maintaining duplicate parameter sets.

Test names before visual design

Try the proposed navigation as a text outline or card exercise. Ask people where they would look for specific information. Repeated disagreement can reveal ambiguous labels. Check how visitors arriving directly on a detail page can understand its context and continue.

Build one complete content path

Connect a representative product, an industry application and a publishable case. Populate them with real material before scaling the structure. This reveals missing evidence and unnecessary duplication while the model is still easy to adjust.

Can industry and product pages share the same body?
Keep shared specifications in the product record. Use the industry page for application constraints and selection criteria.
Does a small catalogue need filtering?
Only when meaningful comparison dimensions justify it. Clear categories and a readable list may be sufficient.
