The Other Half of a Chair

Weave & Visible Repair

About this study

Indigo flax ribbons continue half the seat and part of a weathered oak chair’s back, leaving the missing areas legible through an open weave. Short vermilion stitches mark each join. Rounded timber and frayed fibres hold traces of use and repair, casting a new woven shadow onto the ochre floor.

Woven gaps, scale and the relation between textile and everyday space inform an oak chair, missing seat, flax repair and vermilion joins. Curtain, check pattern and exhibition setting are replaced in an AI-assisted furniture-and-textile sculpture concept.
