Leaving Space for the Tide

Space Between Species

About this study

Five porous dark stone ribs descend across a shallow sandy seabed. Their folded gaps become passages for small silver fish. Seagrass, shell fragments and sand enter the edges while moving caustics connect the dark surfaces to the light seabed, shifting attention from solid form to shared space.

Fish-scale space, surface area and future water levels inform low basalt-like ribs in an entirely underwater setting. Pink marble, the tall arch and harbour composition are replaced in an AI-assisted interspecies sculpture concept.
